Vopak Grants a 3-year Automation Contract to Emerson

September 12, 2012 [St. Louis Journal] - Netherlands-based Vopak has awarded Emerson Process Management, a unit of St. Louis-based Emerson Electric, a three-year contract to become one of the providers of process automation systems and services for Vopak’s 83 storage and liquid terminal facilities around the world.


Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Emerson announced Vopak will standardize on the technology company’s DeltaV digital automation system to help Vopak meet growing demand for reliable liquid oil, gas and chemical storage and terminal services.

Under the agreement, Emerson will design, configure and implement digital automation systems for all new automation projects at Vopak terminals and provide support services for new and existing automation systems.

Vopak is the world’s largest independent tank storage provider with terminals in 31 countries.

Manufacturing and technology company Emerson Electric, led by Chairman and CEO David Farr, reported net earnings of $787 million on revenue of $6.48 billion in its third quarter ended June 30. Its process management unit grew the most out of all its segments in the recent quarter with earnings of $490 million on sales that grew 19 percent to $2.12 billion.
