Maritime Gross Trade
The maritime gross trade of liquid bulk products of a berth in cubic meters is defined as the sum of volumes that have been loaded and discharged at a certain berth. We focus on tankers only. Push boats and other ships that are not identified as tankers are excluded from the calculation.
Other assumptions:
- The assumed loading is equal to a certain percentage of the DWT.
- When the vessel travels along a number of different terminals the total loading is divided in equal parts over the different terminals.
- If draft data is available we use this to calculate a more accurate loading/discharging volume.
In some cases AIS signal coverage may be poor and this may result in an understatement of the maritime gross trade compared to reality. The information is based on various data sources and may be incomplete or inaccurate due to unforeseen reasons.
