September 22, 2026 [Storage Terminals Magazine]- Baker Hughes and Venture Global LNG are expanding their long-standing collaboration, with Baker Hughes set to provide gas compression systems for the Cloud Connector Pipeline project in Louisiana, alongside a modular liquefaction solution for the expansion of Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG facility.
The awards cover infrastructure across the natural gas value chain and are intended to support increased LNG production and feed gas transportation for the Plaquemines facility.
Under the pipeline award, Baker Hughes will supply 13 gas compression systems driven by Frame 5/2E gas turbines. The systems will be used to transport feed gas through the Cloud Connector Pipeline to Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG facility. The award represents one of the company’s largest deployments of compression equipment for LNG feed gas transportation in the United States.
As part of the liquefaction award, Baker Hughes will provide four liquefaction blocks comprising eight liquefaction modules to support additional LNG production capacity at Plaquemines. The blocks will include Chart cold boxes.
Each liquefaction block will comprise two electrically driven, single mixed-refrigerant (SMR) liquefaction modules and associated compression trains incorporating Baker Hughes’ centrifugal compressor technology. The packages will also include cold boxes, air coolers and integrated control systems.
The scope follows a similar liquefaction award recently made to Baker Hughes for the CP2 project.
Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global, said Baker Hughes had been a long-standing partner across the company’s LNG facilities and pipeline infrastructure. He added that the collaboration would support the expansion of Plaquemines LNG and the transportation of feed gas required for the facility.
Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, said US natural gas infrastructure would play a role in meeting energy demand, adding that the company was working with Venture Global on the expansion of Plaquemines LNG.
The Cloud Connector award is the second order for Frame 5/2E gas turbine-driven centrifugal compressor packages for Venture Global’s feed gas pipeline. It brings the total number of Frame 5/2E-driven gas compression systems supporting the Plaquemines LNG facility to 23.
The latest awards further extend Baker Hughes’ involvement in Venture Global’s LNG developments, covering more than 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of existing and planned LNG production capacity.
