Batumi Oil Terminal Will Be Announced for Privatization

December 9, 2015 [Kazinform] - Batumi Oil Terminal, located on the Black Sea (Georgia) and belonging to Kazakhstan NC, will be put up for privatization.


This has been announced yesterday during governmental conference call by Umirzak Shukeyev, the chairman of the Board of “National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna” JSC.

“The “KazTransOil” JSC is planning to privatize its’ assets such as “KazMorTransFlot”(national maritime shipping company) or Batumi Oil Terminal. All non-core assets in the KazTransOil and KazTransGas will be put up for privatization and carry out unification of pipeline transport”.

The ”Batumi Industrial Holdings Limited“ is the operator of Batumi Oil Terminal. The “KazTransOil” JSC, a subsidiary of NC “KazMunayGas” JSC, has acquired 100% stake in the ”Batumi Industrial Holdings Limited“ (BIHL) in February 2008. BIHL – owns a number of strategic assets in Georgia, including Batumi Oil Terminal. In addition, BIHL owns the exclusive right to manage Batumi seaport for 49 years. Batumi Oil Terminal (BOT) is a sea port used for transportation of Caspian crude oil exports. BOT is also the only terminal on the Caucasian Black Sea coast for transshipment of liquefied petroleum gas.
