May 7, 2010 [Opis] - Tennessee ethanol marketer Eco-Energy has begun operations at its ethanol distribution terminal in Shreveport, La., the company announced.

The facility, a joint project between Eco-Energy and Red River Terminals, is expected to serve the bulk ethanol needs of the Shreveport region, as well as some of the West Texas markets, Eco-Energy spokeswoman Jaime Dachelet confirmed.
“The facility’s location, which is in close proximity to the area’s gasoline terminals, will provide customers with a logistically advantaged outlet to receive ethanol via rail into the metropolitan area,” Eco-Energy explained. “The terminal is equipped with a railcar manifold system and dual truck loading rack that will allow for the simultaneous offloading of up to 10
railcars per day. Eco-Energy will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics, throughput and accounting activities for this terminal,” the company noted.
The terminal is accessible by Union Pacific, Dachelet noted.
According to Eco-Energy’s website, the company’s distribution services division operates and manages nearly two dozen North American facilities with access to more than 600 terminals. The Transportation and Distribution Services
divisions handle more than 25,000 railcars and 60,000 trucks/yr, with access to more than 800,000 bbls of storage.
