September 22, 2026 [Hydrocarbon Processing]- Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical has begun construction of a 1-million-tpy ethylene plant in China as part of its Luyou Lulian Transformation and Upgrading Technical Renovation Project. Covering 109,710m², the facility will process up to 2.93 million tpy of feedstock using Sinopec-developed CBL cracking and low-energy ethylene separation technologies. Products will include polymer-grade ethylene and propylene, mixed C4, pyrolysis gasoline, ethylene tar, fuel gas and hydrogen. The plant will supply downstream polyethylene, polypropylene and butadiene units, supporting refining-chemical integration, feedstock self-sufficiency and higher-value production.
