August 24, 2026 [Storage Terminals Magazine]- Global energy technology company SLB has secured a contract from Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) to support the restoration of production from shut-in wells across several offshore fields in Brunei.
The project will cover a range of activities, including subsurface evaluation, identification of suitable well candidates, engineering and offshore execution. SLB will also coordinate project management, well intervention, monitoring, metering and marine logistics as part of an integrated approach to restoring production.
The award builds on the companies’ longstanding relationship in the region and is focused on improving recovery from existing offshore infrastructure. SLB will work with BSP to identify opportunities to bring shut-in wells back into production while supporting the operator’s longer-term production objectives.
It is the first time BSP will deploy SLB’s integrated production restoration solution. The approach combines multiple technical disciplines and services, with surveillance, engineering and intervention planning coordinated under a Well, Reservoir and Facility Management framework.
The initiative reflects the growing focus among offshore operators on extending the productive life of mature assets. While established fields can provide opportunities for additional recovery, bringing shut-in wells back online can require detailed subsurface analysis, careful intervention planning and coordinated offshore execution.
By bringing these activities together within a single execution model, the project is intended to provide BSP with a more integrated approach to managing mature offshore assets and improving production performance while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
