July 25, 2012 [MEED] - Vopak Horizon Fujairah has extended the deadline for bids on its Fujairah oil storage terminal expansion on the east coast of the UAE.

Prequalified companies have been asked to submit bids for the estimated $200m engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by 5 August. The previous deadline was 8 July.

The project is the seventh phase of Vopak’s expansion in Fujairah. In May, the company completed the sixth phase, bringing its total storage capacity at the port to 2.1 million cubic metres.

The scope of the EPC contract includes the construction of a jetty, single point mooring, a pipeline, tanks, pumps and other associated facilities.

Vopak Horizon Fujairah, is one of more than 10 companies expanding their oil storage capacity in the emirate, which is expected to double its oil storage capacity in the next two years.

Vopak Horizon Fujairah is a joint venture between Royal Vopak, Horizon Terminals Ltd, the Government of Fujairah and Kuwait’s Independent Petroleum Group.
