Williams Completes $5.5 Billion Acquisition of Momentum Midstream
09.15.2026 By Tank Terminals - NEWS

September 15, 2026 [Storage Terminals Magazine]- Williams has completed its acquisition of Momentum Midstream in a transaction valued at approximately $5.5 billion, expanding the natural gas infrastructure company’s position in the Haynesville basin and strengthening its ability to connect growing supplies with demand along the US Gulf Coast.

The transaction comprises approximately $3.5 billion in cash and debt consideration and around $2 billion in Williams equity.

The acquisition significantly expands Williams’ infrastructure footprint in the Haynesville, one of the United States’ key natural gas producing regions. Momentum’s assets include more than 4,000 miles of pipelines, over 1 million dedicated acres and approximately 6 Bcf/d of gathering capacity.

The acquired platform also includes multiple processing and treating facilities, together with three take-or-pay pipelines providing a combined 4.05 Bcf/d of transportation capacity.

Williams expects the expanded infrastructure network to strengthen connections between natural gas production in the Haynesville and growing demand from liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, power generation and industrial customers along the Gulf Coast.

The acquisition also provides Williams with additional opportunities to expand its infrastructure footprint in the region. The company has already announced two further expansion projects associated with the enlarged platform.

Williams President and CEO Chad Zamarin said the completed transaction gives the company a stronger position in the Haynesville and expands its ability to serve rising LNG, power and industrial demand.

The acquired assets also bring an established customer base and long-term take-or-pay contracts into Williams’ portfolio, providing contracted transportation and gathering revenues while supporting future infrastructure development.

The transaction forms part of Williams’ broader strategy to expand its natural gas infrastructure network as demand for the fuel grows across multiple sectors of the US energy market.

The Haynesville has become increasingly important to Gulf Coast energy infrastructure because of its proximity to major LNG export facilities and other large-scale natural gas consumers. Additional pipeline and processing capacity in the region is expected to play a role in connecting production with these expanding markets.

With the Momentum acquisition now complete, Williams has added substantial gathering, processing and transportation infrastructure to its existing network, creating a larger integrated platform in one of the country’s major natural gas supply regions.
